I started my career as a Staff Nurse in Bhatra Hospital in Delhi in 2000 and later on I moved to United Kingdom in 2005 and worked there as a Registered Nurse. While I was working there, as a deputy manager of one of the hospitals of National Health Service (NHS) in 2019, my husband decided to migrate to the United States to establish his business. Hence I was compelled to enquire about getting licensed in the United States and I came to know that NCLEX-RN® was mandatory requirement to become an RN in the United States.
Doing a good research, before leaping into something new, was in my nature. Accordingly, after a detailed search, I learnt that it was not quite easy to pass the NCLEX-RN®. Moreover, being a mum of two children and doing a fulltime job, I didn’t really have much time to spare for NCLEX-RN® preparation. But fortunately, money wasn't problem for me and so I could get resources from many NCLEX-RN® tutors from different countries. Having gathered plenty of resources, I separated the questions topic-wise and started learning. But soon, I found it to be tedious and boring.
My husband owns an IT company and so I requested him to make a Computer Adaptive Testing application for me; if he really wanted me to pass the exam. I thought that would be the best way to equip myself to face the challenge, i.e. NCLEX-RN®. Initially he made a simple one but slowly he improved it to suit my preferences. After practicing for about a month and a half with his application, it predicted that I was ready to take the exam and that boosted my confidence enormously. So I was excited to appear for the exam, nevertheless I was bit anxious after the exam finished quickly, I had taken only about 1 hours and 40 minutes to compete it.
Slightly dejected, I came back to the parking to join my family in the car, and then, my husband said to me, that he had just told the kids, that as per his calculations, if I had finished the exam in 2 hours, it meant a guaranteed pass. This consoled me a bit and I waited for the result. Sure, he knows better! He had made the algorithm for Computer Adaptive Test. And so he know well, where I stood. The result was declared and his prediction was absolutely correct. I passed the exam! And Today I am a Registered Nurse in the US! working for The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Research center. Well qualified for the job! Thanks to God and congrats to my husband!
Although my husband had given the app to many nursing students free of cost to help them, we did not have any plan to put this application in the market at that time. But during the pandemic days when we were locked at home; he, idled by the lockdowns and I, affected by the virus, had spent a lot of time together. It was then, we made up our minds to launch the app into the market. But while trying to make it public, he had experienced a lot of difficulties. He and his staff had to spent lot of time as well as money for the modifications required for going online; such as buying cloud server, making the apps for android and iOS and publishing them on play store and app store and so on. The hectic process not only involved lot of money but also invited a recurring need of money to keep the application active. Hence he decided to charge a fee as subscription.
If you are an NCLEX-RN® aspirant this is the end of your search. Now, go ahead! Start practicing with any one of the subscriptions that suits you the best. Wishing you Good Luck! BINU NARENDRAN
